Kinda sucks since I use a lot of the guard boosts to regain souls on bosses. Does anyone know if there are any items you get that reduce or eliminate the chance to be afflicted with status effects while guarding? It's the only gripe I really have with the game is that I'll be guarding with 2 souls and go down to one once I get hit by any status affliction. Gonna ask this question since I don't know.

At this point I'm level 40 with like 6 BG so I don't even know why I still don't do it since I have 2 to spare. Would not recommend getting in that habit.

I'm starting to get into the habit of switching characters to regenerate souls but I really don't like the way my substitutes handle compared to Velvet so I still avoid it far too much. It works pretty well for a majority of battles but every once in awhile I'll get hit first and then status/combo down to one soul and it's a slog. Depending on how fast I'm generating I'll add in Heaven's/Hell's Claw as appropriate but I never let myself fall below 3 unless I know I'm going to earn it back, especially in dangerous fights. Once I enter a new area I'll test out my combos on the enemies to make sure they work (they often do) and I'll check again once I learn a new arte but other than that I don't touch it.Ī lot of non boss battles though I charge in for 1 hit since there's another item that gives you double the effect chance if you land the first hit which can net me a soul then go into a daemon mode chain.

I usually go into the menu and tweak my physical combo for bosses or code red daemons though. I try to build the other combos around it but sometimes I don't like the result so I alter it to suit my needs.Īt the end though my general rule of thumb is to make sure I always have a physical move to start with an elemental move in the second slot since I usually never fall below 1 soul and then after that hidden artes for the element.

If I have it right my physical combo is a full chain utilizing this item. There's an extra line of text on the artes that (I think) tells you which attack it will change. I also have an item that Allows the use of martial artes derivatives under certain conditions. I'll swap if I need to but I try to not have to spend every battle tweaking my combos. Pure physical damage since water weakness isn't common enough to warrant having a dedicated setup for it. Slicing Foot, Gouging Spin, Harsh Rebuttal, Rising Moon Shadow Flow is a little weird but if I get to the 4th move it's usually because enemies are stacked nice and tight for it. Rising Moon, Avalanche Fang, Mega Sonic Thrust, Shadow FlowĮarth based combo. Everything fits together fairly nicely but Slag Assault hiccups sometimes if I've not activated daemon mode. Harsh Rebuttal, Rising Moon, Searing Edge, Slag Assaultįire based combo. I really like chaining Rising Moon, Rising Falcon, Hell's Claw if I can keep up the generation. This combo I generally use for wind weakness. Impulse Desire (Highest Mystic Arte) At the cost of 5 BG, press and hold L2 when Nightmare Claw is active. Severe Destruction Impact (Intermediate Mystic Arte) For the cost of 4 BG, press and hold L2 when Velvet finishes at least an 8-Arte Chain.

Rising Moon, Rising Falcon, Moonlight Cyclone, Heaven's Wrath With at least 3 BG, perform this Mystic Arte by chaining with an Arte then press and hold L2.
